Tower Audio recently completed a Toyota Kluger head unit upgrade in Melbourne, installing a JVC touchscreen multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and reverse-camera integration.
The upgrade adds modern smartphone connectivity and reversing assistance while retaining the vehicle’s existing dashboard layout and upper information display.
JVC Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Installation
The Toyota Kluger’s original audio unit was replaced with a JVC touchscreen head unit supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new system lets compatible smartphones connect wirelessly for navigation, hands-free calls, music streaming, and messaging.
As shown in the installation photographs, the JVC head unit fits into the existing central dashboard position, below the factory information screen.
The original upper display remains in place and shows vehicle information such as driving range and fuel consumption. This allows the Kluger to gain modern multimedia functionality without significantly changing its original interior layout.
Toyota Kluger Reverse Camera Integration
The installation also includes a reverse camera connected to the JVC touchscreen.
When reversing, the display shows a rear-facing camera view with coloured parking guidelines to help the driver judge the available space behind the vehicle.
This is particularly useful when manoeuvring a larger SUV such as the Toyota Kluger in car parks, driveways and confined spaces.
With the reverse camera and smartphone connectivity integrated into the same head unit, the driver can access both functions through one central display.

This installation shows how an older Toyota Kluger can be modernised with wireless smartphone connectivity and reversing assistance while keeping its original dashboard layout.
