About Tower Audio

Tower Audio is an owner-operated car audio and automotive electronics business in Melbourne, run by Chris, a trade-qualified installer with more than 30 years of hands-on experience.

When you contact Tower Audio, Chris is the person you speak with about your vehicle and the person who carries out the work. From choosing suitable equipment to installation, configuration and system tuning, the job stays with the same experienced installer from start to finish.

Meet Chris — Owner & Trade-Qualified Installer

Chris has worked in automotive electronics for more than two decades. His experience covers car audio systems, head units, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, reverse cameras, dash cams, GPS units and related in-car electronics.

He has also taught automotive electronics through TAFE-certified courses. That background combines technical theory with years of practical work on customer vehicles.

For Chris, a good installation is not simply about fitting a product into a dashboard or door. The equipment needs to suit the vehicle, the customer’s requirements and the rest of the system.

You Deal Directly With the Person Doing the Work

Tower Audio is not built around a sales counter that passes your vehicle to another installer.

Chris discusses the job with you, checks the vehicle, recommends suitable options and carries out the installation himself. This means the person giving you advice has direct knowledge of how the equipment will be fitted and configured in your vehicle.

It also makes it easier to discuss vehicle-specific issues before work begins, including factory audio systems, existing wiring, speaker locations, head unit compatibility and the way new equipment will work with original vehicle functions.

More Than 30 Years of Automotive Electronics Experience

Vehicles and in-car technology have changed considerably over the past 30 years. Factory systems now commonly include steering-wheel controls, factory amplifiers, cameras, vehicle settings and other electronics connected to the original head unit.

That is why experience is important when replacing or adding equipment.

Chris’s work is based on understanding both the product being installed and the vehicle it is going into. The aim is to choose a solution that works correctly with the vehicle rather than fitting parts simply because they can physically be installed.

Car Audio, Multimedia and Vehicle Electronics

Tower Audio works across a range of in-car audio and electronics services, including:

  • Car audio installation and upgrades
  • Apple CarPlay installation
  • Android Auto installation
  • Head unit installation
  • Car stereo repairs
  • Speaker installation and upgrades
  • Amplifier and subwoofer installation
  • Reverse camera installation
  • Dash cam installation
  • GPS installation

Each job starts with the vehicle and the result the customer wants. Some customers want better sound quality. Others want modern phone connectivity, a replacement for a failed factory stereo, better reversing visibility or a cleaner installation of driving accessories.

The equipment and installation method can differ from one vehicle to another.

Why Tower Audio Takes a Vehicle-Specific Approach

Two cars can require very different installation methods even when the customer wants the same feature.

An Apple CarPlay upgrade, for example, may involve a complete head unit replacement in one vehicle. Another car may be better suited to an interface that works with the existing factory screen.

Car audio upgrades also depend on more than speaker size. Factory amplification, signal processing, speaker locations, available mounting space and the customer’s listening preferences can all affect what should be installed.

Chris assesses those factors before recommending equipment. This avoids treating every vehicle as though the same package will suit it.

Installation Is Only Part of the Job

Correct setup after installation can have a major effect on how a system performs.

Audio equipment may require gain setting, crossover adjustment, level matching or processor tuning. A new head unit may need steering-wheel controls, cameras, microphones or other factory functions configured correctly.

Chris handles the installation and setup as part of the same job, rather than treating the hardware fitment as the end of the work.

Advice Based on the Job, Not Just the Product

More expensive equipment is not automatically the right choice for every vehicle.

A customer keeping the factory head unit may need a different audio upgrade from someone replacing the entire source unit. A vehicle used every day may call for a different solution from a weekend car. Some factory systems also place limits on what can be changed without additional parts or processing.

Tower Audio’s approach is to recommend equipment around the vehicle, the required outcome and the available budget.

Real Work on Real Vehicles

Tower Audio regularly documents completed installations, including vehicle-specific car audio upgrades, head unit replacements, Apple CarPlay installations and other automotive electronics work.

These examples show the types of vehicles Chris works on and how different systems are approached in practice.
